Barcelona forward Ansu Fati has been included in the FC Barcelona lineup for the first time in 10 months after being ruled out of action due to a severe knee injury.

Fati suffered an injury to his meniscus in his left knee during the Blaugranes’ 5-2 victory over Real Betis last November. Since then, the young Spaniard has had to undergo several operations in order to rectify the issue. It was only in the last week that Fati was able to make a full return to training.

Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman reflected on Fati’s return to action during a press conference on Saturday, explaining: “It’s very important to have him back, firstly for the player himself, because he has been out for a really long time. We have a plan with him and we will continue to follow that plan to ensure he returns properly.”

Prior to picking up his knee injury, Fati was Barca’s top scorer of the season, netting five goals in 10 games. In addition to being the youngest ever goalscorer for FC Barcelona in La Liga, he is also the younger scorer in the Champions League for any team in history.
