Andrew Wiggins Close to Signing a $148 million Contract With the Timberwolves

According to multiple reports, Andrew Wiggins signing a max deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves is just days away.

It looks like Andrew Wiggins is all set for his big payday. The reports about Wiggins signing a max deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves have been circling for some time now. Darren Wolfson‏ reported on Monday that the team owner Glen Taylor revealed him that Wiggins will sign the 5 years, $148 million maximum contract extension before the training camp opens.

While nothing was signed yet, sources told to The Vertical that Wiggins is progressing towards signing the deal and that everything will be finished soon. “We’ve got until a day before the regular season. So there’s really no rush or anything. I feel really good about it.”- said Wiggins on Friday.

So this is just about taking it slowly and maybe enjoying the moment. Wiggins really wants to remain a part of this team and he confirmed it once again by saying: “Minnesota’s been good to me. They’ve been loyal, trustworthy and with that contract, it means they’re committed. They want me here and I want the same.

While everything seems to be sorted out between Andrew Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves, many people still argue that Wiggins currently isn’t a max deal player. The conclusion is although Wiggins is set to become an All-Star level player in the future, he still has certain problems with his game and issues that need to be worked on.
Wiggins was selected as first overall in the 2014 NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was traded shortly after to the Timberwolves as a part of the deal that brought Kevin Love to Cleveland. During his three seasons with the franchise, Wiggins has shown his potential, and put some remarkable performances. The 2016–17 was his best in terms of stats, and he averaged 23.6 points, 4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1 steal per game. Wiggins is certainly looking to build on this and play an important part in Minnesota’s improved roster, thus justifying his max deal.
