The Monday Night Football clash between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Green Bay Packers was interesting for several reasons. It marked the first win for the Raiders against the Packers since 1987 while also featuring two brothers, Anders and Daniel Carlson, kicking against each other.

Packers’ Anders and Raiders’ Daniel became the first brothers to face off as kickers in 36 years. The last time the NFL saw this happen was also in 1987, during a game between the Raiders and the Cleveland Browns. Back then, it was brothers Chris Bahr and Matt Bahr who played against each other.

This special occasion saw the entire Carlson family reunite and post for a photo during the warm-ups.

Anders ended up being way more successful than his older brother, being two-out-of-two on-field goals and also converting his only extra point attempt. Daniel, on the other hand, missed two field goals but got the last laugh as his Raiders secured a 13-17 win.

Daniel Carlson entered the league as the Minnesota Vikings’ fifth-round pick in 2018. After struggling during the preseason, Daniel was cut by the Vikings and ended up signing with the Raiders. Since then, he was the NFL scoring co-leader twice while earning two All-Pro honors.

The Packers drafted Anders Carlson in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft as a replacement for veteran Mason Crosby. Anders is yet to miss a field goal or an extra point through his first five games in the NFL.
