“Cogs is such a valuable member our team and we felt it paramount to keep him,“- said Ducks Executive Vice President/General Manager Bob Murray. “He’s very consistent, competes every night and most importantly, is a terrific person. He sets a great example to our younger players with his attitude and approach to the game, and is extremely deserving of this contract extension.“
Shortly after signing the contract, Cogliano said he was eager to sign a deal after Murray called him, and that he wanted to finish it as soon as possible.
“It’s been a great place for me” – he added. “I’ve played seven years here, I’ve had a great time … The guys in the locker room are special people. I think I’ve just made a home here, and I love everything about this organization. Proud to be a Duck!“
Andrew Cogliano was drafted 25th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2005 NHL Draft. After playing two seasons at the University of Michigan, he joined the Oilers in 2007, playing all 82 games during his rookie season. He spent four years with the Oilers, who traded him to the Ducks for a second-round draft pick as a part of the rebuilding process. During his NHL career, Cogliano never missed a game, playing more than 800 consecutive games, which puts him at the fourth place on the NHL’s most consecutive games played list.
During the 43 games he played for the Ducks this season, the 30-year-old scored 5 goals and 13 assists for 18 points, having a +7 rating and 27 PIM.
