All-Star outfielder Bryan Reynolds seems to have had enough of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ losing ways. According to multiple reports, Reynolds recently told the team that he wants to be traded.

Since Reynolds made his MLB debut in 2019, the Pirates haven’t made the playoffs or got more than 69 wins. The team has been rebuilding for some time now, and everything points out that they are several more years of contending. With Reynolds playing his best baseball recently, it makes sense he doesn’t want to waste his talents just to finish last in NL Central every year.

After the reports about Reynolds’ request broke out, the team issued a statement confirming the news but also added that they didn’t have any intention to follow it through.

“While it is disappointing, this will have zero impact on our decision-making this offseason or in the future,” the Pirates said in a statement issued on Saturday in a statement. “Our goal is to improve the Pirates for 2023 and beyond. With three years until he hits free agency, Bryan remains a key member of our team. We look forward to him having a great season for the Pirates.”

Reynolds had a career season in 2022, batting .262 with 27 home runs and 62 RBIs and earning an NL All-Star spot. Overall, he has hit .281 since debuting in the majors and has 74 homers and 239 RBIs.
