Hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign, Wolverhampton Wanderers played host to Burnley FC in what was a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the Molineux.

While it was Wolves who dominated ball possession, the visitors did well to apply the pressure and ensure a constant power struggle throughout the 90 minutes. While the game was tight, it took just 13 minutes of play for the high-flying Ashley Barnes to volley home a stunner to open the scoring for Burnley and seal his fourth goal in three games.

After 17 shots, Wolves remained unable to penetrate a resolute Burnley defense. The home side did eventually get their breakthrough at the death of the match, as a controversial VAR decision allowed the referee to award Wolves with a penalty in the 97th minute of play. Raul Jimenez confidently stepped up and took a cool penalty to draw level and save Wolves from a humiliating home defeat.

Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo had this to say following the full-time whistle: “The boys worked very hard. Burnley is a very good team. The way they do things is so good. They score, they create chances. [Chris] Wood and [Ashley] Barnes hold the ball. It’s a physical game they force from us, but the boys did well.”

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
