Free agent Alize Johnson has signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Bulls, his agent George Langberg announced to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday. The deal is believed to be worth $3.6 million.

The 25-year-old forward played for the Brooklyn Nets last season, appearing in 18 NBA games and averaging 5.2 points, 5 rebounds, and a 58.8% shot accuracy rate. Johnson’s stand-out performance last season came in April, when he tallied 20 points and 21 rebounds against the Indiana Pacers.

The need for Alize Johnson arose due to the Bulls’ offloading of Thaddeus Young and Lauri Markkanen during the offseason, who departed for San Antonio Spurs and Cleveland Cavaliers respectively.

Standing at 6 foot 7, Johnson was the second-round pick of the Indiana Pacers during the 2018 NBA Draft. Prior to launching his NBA career, the forward gained attention during his two seasons at Missouri State.

Alize Johnson is not the only last-minute trade that the Bulls secured. Fellow free agent Stanley Johnson was also snatched up, following the Bulls’ inability to land the signatures of primary targets Paul Millsap and LaMarcus Aldridge, who both signed with the Brooklyn Nets.
