The Florida Panthers captain was injured during his team’s 3-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators. Barkov left the game with 1:10 left on the clock after crashing into the boards. After being helped to his feet by teammates Evan Rodrigues and Uvis Balinskis, Barkov headed directly to his team’s locker room for further evaluation.

“He’s going to get looked at here tonight and probably tomorrow as well,” Panthers coach Paul Maurice stated. While there was no immediate word on the nature and severity of Barkov’s injury, it appeared that he was unable to put weight on his right leg upon rising to his feet and getting off the ice.

Winning one game from their first two matches, the Panthers are sitting fourth in the Eastern Conference standings. The Panthers are next set to face the Buffalo Sabres at the Keybank Center on Saturday night before traveling to Boston to play against the Bruins on Monday.
