In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. said that he believes the 2020 NFL season should have been canceled completely, because of concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commenting on the NBA season that has restarted, Beckham Jr. said “Hooping is different than playing an eleven-on-eleven contact sport where there are 80 people in a locker room. We’re not ready for football season. So why are we trying to push forward?”

The Browns star continued his observation, stating that the NFL season is obviously going to go on because of the team owners who want to make money, adding that “they don’t see us (NFL players) as human.”

However, hours after this report was released, Cleveland.com released a story saying that Beckham Jr. has no plans of opting out of the 2020 season, adding that since he has seen all of the precautions that the Browns have taken at the facility, he believes that players will be safe.

Beckham, and anyone else that doesn’t feel safe playing in 2020, will have until Thursday, August 6, to make a decision on whether or not they want to opt-out of the 2020 season.
