AC Milan is looking to strengthen their midfield for next season, and it appears the Seria A club zeroed in on Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira.

According to reports from Italy, Milan has been interested in Torreira for some time now and will now make the opening offer to the London club. It is believed that Seria A side has good chances of getting the deal done as the 24-year-old Uruguayan finds himself out-of-favor at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal’s new head coach Mikel Arteta is looking to embark on a rebuilding project this summer and is looking to fund it by selling players that don’t fit his preferred game style. Torreira will probably be one of the “casualties,” as he struggled to make an impact since joining from Sampdoria in a $30 million transfer in 2018.

Besides Milan, Fiorentina is reportedly keen on Torreira as well. He was also linked with a return to Italy back in January when Napoli was interested in his services.

Torreira started his senior career with Pescara, but only played five games with the club before being snatched up by Sampdoria. He made 74 appearances with Sampdoria in all competitions before leaving for Premier League.
