The Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t interested in having the same longevity as Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tom Brady. When asked by reporters on Thursday whether he would play until he’s 45 like Brady will in 2022, Rodgers’ answer was a resounding no.

“No, I don’t,” Rodgers responded. “But happy birthday Tom.”

Brady is turning 45 on Wednesday and will be the second oldest quarterback to play in NFL history once the season wraps up. The Chicago Bears’ great George Blanda will be the only player ahead of him, having made his last NFL appearance at the age of 48 years, three months, and 18 days.

Despite still playing at a high level and having two back-to-back MVP awards in 2020 and 2021 to back that up, Aaron Rodgers doesn’t seem too interested in sticking around well into his 40s. He already said retirement was one of the options for him this offseason before he inked an extension with the Packers.

The main portion of Rodger’s latest deal is tied to seasons 2022 and 2023. This might well mean that the 38-year-old will give us two more years of greatness before bowing out at the age of 40. On the other hand, the star QB is known to change his mind often so you never know.
