Aaron Rodgers displayed one of the most incredible second-half performances in an NFL regular season game last Sunday when the Packers beat the Chicago Bears 24-23. Now, it’s uncertain whether the quarterback will appear in week two as he weathers an ankle injury that resulted in him missing practice throughout this week.

Although he had said he would appear for the Packers in week 2, his coach isn’t risking anything. Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed on Wednesday that the 34-year old had missed practice to be with other players on rehab. Rodgers didn’t attend practice on Thursday either.

When asked if the quarterback would play on Sunday as the Packers face fellow favorites to win the NFC North league, Minnesota Vikings, McCarthy described the situation as “a day to day situation.”

“Obviously there’s hope of playing. He’ll be given the whole week to be ready, the coach told reporters. “This is no layup. That’s why it’s a day to day situation.”

Can Rodgers Appear after a Week of no Practice?

After failing to make it to practice by Thursday, McCarthy confirmed Rodgers would not be appearing in any other practice session this week. Unfortunately, Wednesdays and Thursdays are two of the most important practice days for most league teams.

With the Packers facing a tough opponent, the Vikings, the presence of Rodgers could add much-needed depth in the quarterback departments. He played and impressed in Week 1 despite the injury, and may appear on Sunday as well.
