The New York Jets quarterback has spoken out for the first time about the dismissal of head coach Robert Saleh, insisting that he played no role in the decision to get rid of the underperforming coach.

“As far as any of the ridiculous allegations out there, I’m not going to spend more than one sentence in response to it,” Rodgers stated on The Pat McAfee Show. “And that is that I resent any of those accusations because they are patently false. It’s interesting the amount of power that people think that I have, which I don’t. I love Robert.”

The Jets quarterback added that he will throw his full support behind interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich as well as any selection decisions he makes to the offensive staff. While several players expressed surprise as Saleh’s dismissal, the former head coach’s 2-3 record and failure to make the playoffs in any of his previous three season at the Jets serves as justification for the team’s leadership’s loss of patience.
