Joel Embiid has a clear image of how the Philadelphia 76ers’ game plan on offense should work. According to the All-Star center, Philly should put the ball in his hands and let him carry the team.

The 76ers have had their ups and downs this season as they tried to find the way to the right game plan for Embiid and their other All-Star Ben Simmons. Also, head coach Brett Brown failed to incorporate the big free-agent acquisition Al Horford into the starting lineup and even benched him late in the season.

However, in a recent conference call with reporters, Embiid said that he should be in the driver’s seat on the court.

“I know what I’m capable of, and I know what my teammates think of me,” said Embiid. “I know I’m capable of carrying the team, so it’s all about me being assertive. If I feel like I’m not getting the ball, I just got to talk to them and do what I have to do.”

“I believe I can carry the team, and I believe being able to do that, I just got to take matters into my own hands. And obviously, I need to be in positions where I feel comfortable, and I believe my teammates are going to help,” he added.

Joel Embiid put up respectable numbers this season, averaging 23.4 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. However, that is still significantly down from 27.5 points and 13.6 rebounds he had in 2018/19 when he was also an MVP candidate.

The 76ers currently find themselves on the sixth spot in East with 39-26 record ahead of the NBA restart later this month. As currently positioned, Philly is in for a tough matchup in the first round against third-seeded Boston Celtics.
