The San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy may clear concussion protocol in time to play in Sunday’s clash with the Cincinnati Bengals. After participating in practice in a limited capacity on Thursday, Purdy was cleared to do full team training on Friday.

While Purdy is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan explained that he could feature if he passes the final step of concussion protocol on Saturday. “That’s the last thing he’s got to do. Just one step left … He was full go today; he’s just got to pass that tomorrow,” Shanahan explained.

Purdy will need to be cleared for full contact by a Niners team physician as well as examined by an independent neurological consultant. Both the independent neurological consultant and the team physician will have to agree that Purdy’s concussion has been resolved in order for the quarterback to play in Sunday’s game.
