The four-time NBA All-Star Paul Millsap has officially retired from basketball. Millsap confirmed his decision to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Millsap walks away after 16 NBA seasons. He last played in the league in the 2021-22 season, suiting up for the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers, totaling 33 games and averaging 3.5 points and 3.5 rebounds.

Millsap entered the league in 2006 as the second-round pick by the Utah Jazz. He spent seven seasons with the franchise before joining the Atlanta Hawks. Millsap played his best basketball with the Hawks, earning four consecutive All-Star selections and helping the franchise to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2015.

After the 2016-17 season, Millsap joined the Denver Nuggets as a free agent. While in Denver, he established himself as a locker room leader and sidekick to emerging star Nikola Jokic. The Nuggets found repeated success with Millsap in the lineup, making the Western Conference Finals in 2020.

Millsap left the Nuggets after his contract expired in the summer of 2021. He ended up signing with the Nets only to get traded alongside superstar James Harden to the 76ers. After the 2021-22 season ended, Millsap reportedly drew interest from various teams, but these moves didn’t materialize.

Millsap will end his basketball journey with career stats that include 13.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.
