Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, and Brooklyn Nets made a three-team trade on Wednesday night that saw Luke Kennard and Landry Shamet change teams.

According to The Athletic‘s Shams Charania, the trade saw Pistons sending Luke Kennard to LA Clippers while receiving the No.19 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft from the Nets. As part of the deal, the Clippers sent Shamet to Nets.

Detroit, who used the pick acquired in the trade on Villanova’s Saddiq Bey, will also get veteran Rodney McGruder in this deal.

Pistons’ are currently in the rebuild process, so it made sense for them to try and flip a sought-after player like Kennard. In return, they get promising Bey, who is coming to NBA after averaging 16.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in his sophomore college season.

Clippers, on the other hand, land a great bench piece in Kennard. The former Duke product showed great potential last season, averaging 15.8 points and shooting 39.9 from the three-point line, but was limited to just 28 games by a knee injury.

Finally, Shamet gives Nets a solid rotation player while saving them around $1 million in cap space, considering the deal they would have to give a rookie if they ended up keeping the No.19 pick. The 23-year-old averaged 9.3 points in 53 games with Clippers in 2019/20.
